New Designers: Environment Adjustments

As suggested, I have made the environment softer, less harsh and made sure it is not overexposed. Below are stills of the experimentation to the exposures.

Environment Rethink

From the feedback and the suggestions that was given to me, I have assigned ambient occlusion to instead of making my environment coloured as I want Abigail to be the primary focus.




I made the environment to be more British. What do you think?

Major Project: Animated Turnaround

Here's an animated turnaround of my character. With the extra time we have, I have gone and attempted to animate the hat, to give a flapping effect on it by following the cape tutorial.




Major Project: Sound Effects

For my major project, there were specific sounds that I needed and I wasn't able to find those that I like. The skate scooter is an example of it. Also, the footsteps that I previously found was not in sync with my animation. Hence, I have collaborated with Martin Langenbach (www.geraeuschemacher.de), an establish Foley Artist based in Germany to make the sound effects I need. Here's the recording of the sounds.

Major Project: Title Design with Animation

As I begin to enter the final stages of my animation, I have had a think through of how I want the title to appear in animation and as per previous advice, I have made my title font to be handwritten. The sound to it is not final but this is the basis of it.

Major Project: Garden Scene (Edited)

For this garden scene, I have decided to do a minor tweak to it. I have added a foreground element to it. I am thinking of her picking up the ant, and spit it out as the next sentence goes 'And learn to spit'.

Major Project: Warning Previz Edit 05

Here's the update previz with changes made to her sitting down. The animations within this are yet to be polished but this is the basis of it. I have also taken into consideration when it comes to composting the shots to be adding depth of field so that it will not look too CGI.

Major Project: Sitting Down Scene Update

I decided to exaggerate the ending a little by having her huffing and puffing while she sits.

Major Project: Brandy Scene Fur Texture

In this scene, I had a plane to create the scarf and I was initially going to leave it as that, animating the scarf as nCloth. However, it did not actually that my character's personality of "anything goes",

Instead, I've created her the fur and it is looking how I've imagined it to be and quite happy with the results.




I am not able to playblast the scene with this effect hence, I am currently doing a render of it.

Major Project: Sitting Down Scene

Here's an update to the scene from your feedback. I was thinking of having the scene's lighting to start off being cloudy and changes to being sunny day and we see sitting and appreciating it. Also, was the ant scene not working due to soundscape more than visual? Because if it's a soundscape issue, I've not actually resolved the sound effects just as yet.

Major Project: Various Scene Updates


Here is one of the three scenes I've been working on which is the garden scene. I've spent time trying to figure out how to get the grasses move subtly and managed to do so by making it to ncloth. I like how it turned out to be.

The other scene I was trying to figure out was the opening scene. Initially I had a previz but it was not making much sense as it is a reflection shot so I've rendered it and this is the outcome.

The other scene is her eating sausages and here's the outcome of it.

Major Project: Ending Scene Render Test

I decided to do a render test for the ending scene and though it looked fine in playblast, I was not able to accurately tell if the shadows were working properly.


From this render, I found the problems and currently doing another render after adjustments made to the door and correcting the spotlight's cone angle.

Major Project: Swear Scene Rethink

After talking to Rosalyn and Anthony about this scene in my previz. I am going to have a make over for the scene. Here's a rough idea of the changes.

"And not swear in the street
 And set a good example for the children"



I will build the interior of the cars too. Also, I think I am going to exaggerate her actions by having her hit the bonnet of the car.

Major Project: Terrible Shirt Scene Animation

The other scene that I had to rethink about was

 "You can wear terrible shirts and grow more fat"

Initially, I had her walking down the street and she went in a phonebooth. I was not able to justify why she entered the phone booth so I gave this sentence a rethink. So instead of her walking down the street, I have her crossing the street and I will exaggerate her actions when she crosses it. Since one of her attitude is that she cannot be bothered, I will have her slumberly crossing it.
