Part A (Narrative) - Maya Blockout

We have our initial workshop concept art for our toy workshop and did a Maya blockout to get our heads around what to be included in the scene.

Initial Concept Art

We know that this is very "Ikea" like set up so we're working on it to make it feel more loved. We are also looking into the textures. We will most probably have a painterly kind of textures for our animation.

Fantastic Voyage: Digital Set Concept Art

Figure 1 was my original idea of my digital set. It was simple and quite plain.
Figure 1
After the suggestions and feedbacks given, I went to rework on the concept art for the digital set and this is the end result.

Fantastic Voyage Concept Art 2

After looking at Quentin Blake's style more in depth, I have decided to do something similar. This is my attempt to steer away from the naturalistic look and focus more on the pop up element of the book.

I realised that with the small touch of adding the white stroke over my painting, the element of having it to be cut out was a success.

Fantastic Voyage Concept Art 1

For my first concept art, I have decided to do what the book reveals after it opens up. I had the book and the trees laid out (As seen in Development 1) but I wanted to push it further to make it have more 2D-3D look.
Development 1
I then added the sky and the background to the book because my animation will go into the scene, having in mind that I want my target audience to be within the environment.

Development 2
To start the animation, I would have the light ray shine to a fern in the center of the book. It creates the spotlight effect so that my audience will understand that it will be fern they should have their attention on. With the sunlight, it would also make sense that there is where the plants get its nutrients to start reproducing.

Script to Screen: Environment Design (Zoo) Concept Art Further Development

I did minor changes to the lamps in the scene as it was black previously which did not make sense as it is supposed to be glass. I've subtly added light rays to depict the sun.

I went on to change the lighting of the night time concept of the zoo after talking to Jordan and took his feedback into consideration.

Script to Screen: Environment Design (Exhibition Hall) Concept Art Further Development

For this environment, I have decided to add the final painting of the artist which is the center piece along with a coloured sculpture and another painting at the background to suggest that the theme for this competition is Colours.

Script to Screen: Prop Design Concept Art

Here's my final prop design. After much contemplation, I have decided to add the initials of my character onto the paintbrush to make it more personal.

Script to Screen: Environment Design (Studio) Concept Art

My concept art for the artist studio. I've got the basic things down and what I would do next is further adjust the lighting that is coming from the dome above.
