Adaptation B: Character Design Development 08 (Crown Drawings)
In this set of crown drawings for Ishtar, number 2 seems most successful as the design is simple yet adhering to the one depicted on the historical sculpture.
I think number 2 is the best...reminds of Flash Gordon (see below). However, I can't help but think you're slowly moving away from Ishtar (your source). For example...
From Wiki...
1) Ishtar was the goddess of love, war, fertility, and sexuality.
2) Besides the lions on her gate, her symbol is an eight-pointed star
3) In the Babylonian pantheon, she "was the divine personification of the planet Venus"
So,
Love, sexuality, fertility, and war – Does your character symbolise these yet? If not how could you achieve this? Lions (sidekicks?) and an eight pointed star could be added as details. Venus could be inspriation for her costume colours.
Thanks Alan. I am working on incorporating the 8 pointed star in her accessory (her necklace) as described in the text and as for the lions, I thought of having it's head as part of her bracelet. Do you reckon sidekick instead though?
To be honest, I'm more concerned about your character representing love, sexuality, fertility, and war than having a sidekick. However, having two lions flanking her (alongside) does help with the idea of danger.

ReplyDeleteNote: Finish the character first then deal with lions.
