Animation Showreel_Updated

Here's the updated showreel, with all the necessary practices included.

Animation: Bouncing Ball

This was another animation that I needed to add to my showreel, and hence, I have made it digitally and made it more presentable.

Animation: Bowling Ball

This is another animation exercise that I have decided to do digitally so I can add it to my showreel.

Basic Walk Cycle

Taking the advice I was given during the showreel presentation, I have decided to revisit the basic walk cycle which I would be adding to my showreel. This has been done digitally so that it would fit my showreel nicely.

Animation: Character Walk Cycle

For my character walk cycle, I did three different versions, each showing a slight personality change of my snobbish character. The first one looks like his skipping as he walks really fast. The second one had his down pose really low and it looked liked he was limping, yet his snobbish personality was still intact. The third one was the closest to what I had in mind for my character as he walks towards the paintbrush.

Because the curve of my walk cycle differs from the conventional walk cycle curve, the results came out interesting and I really enjoyed doing this as I got to explore the different possible walk cycles.

Animation: Basic Walk Cycle

For my walk cycle animation, I have decided to do more than one cycle just to experiment how it would look like with different pacing and in betweens.

Animation Lesson 7- Final Sandbag Animation

After exporting my sandbag animation, I have decided to bring in to photoshop and added a background with the box. Also, I brought in to premiere pro to add music to my short animation. I did this just to get myself familiarise with Premiere Pro and Audition, the two softwares I picked up from the other classes.

Animation Lesson 6- Animating The Sandbag

For today's animation class, our task was to animate the sandbag to go over an obstacle which is a cube box. Before we did that, we were taught what our animated character needed.

Anticipate > Jump > Recovery

To animate the sandbag, I needed to
1. Understand my character. (Stretch, Squash, Volume, Weight and Personality
2. Plan my scene (Staging, Proportion, Camera, Story)
3. Mapping the actions (Keyframes, Arcs of Motion)
4. Timing and Spacing my In Betweens using Ladder
5. Animate!

For my sandbag, I have decided to make it a flexible dancer, showing off. I would still need to redraw some of the sandbag because it has either gained or lost weight.

Animation Lesson 5- Contour and Gesture Drawings

For this week's animation class, our first task was to draw the person opposite without taking the pencil off the paper. This task was challenging as it requires full concentration and the urge to always look down to see what was on the paper was really big.

Contour Drawings
In comparison to the contour drawings done in the previous exercise, the gesture drawing exercise was a little bit more relaxed. We were told to draw with not only our wrist but to move the whole arm.

Animation Lesson 4- Pixillation

I truly enjoyed today's animation class. Our task was to create a pixillation footage of ourselves. I learnt that pacing and timing is vital when making this animation. If there's a huge movement from one frame to another, it will distort the animation. In the first part of the video, we did something a film can do so we tried out something different after and I think it looks cool! :D

Animation Lesson 2- Morphing

For today's animation class, we had to draw the face of the person on our left. In 9 frames, we had to complete the morphing exercise. As drawing portraits is one of my weakness, I found this exercise a little bit hilarious because I ended up drawing an old lady which did no justice to my friend's face!

Here's a video of the final outcome of the class effort:

Meg also showed us some morphing videos which I found really interesting. So I couldn't help but watched more morphing videos. Here's one that I liked :)

Animation Lesson 2- Morphing

Today in Animation class, our main theme for the lesson was morphing. We started of the lesson by playing the game called consequences. Here are the works produced by Damyn, Rosalyn, Josh and myself.  I find amused and impressed by the works produced. I would never be able to produce the end product all by myself.

We started off with a circle and morphed to the image below.

After we had that up, we morphed it to another character as per below.

Great teamwork and communication amongst my teammates led us to produce this great result.  Enjoy!

Animation Lesson 1- Praxinoscope

Today in class, we were given 10 Minutes to do 10 continuous drawings to place on a praxinoscope. I am actually very happy with this simple animation of the fingers moving for a start to the class. More interesting animation to come in the upcoming weeks! ◉‿◉
