Summer Work (Character of a Child)

I spent my summer doing lots of travelling and not doing much work so here's what I've been up to in between my travels. As I gave some thought for my final year project, I was thinking of doing a child character so I did my readings on proportions and how to draw them as I know this is not my strongest point.

I decided to model my character because I wanted to get myself back to modelling, skinning and rigging, all in preparation for the final year. Also, I wanted to familiarise myself with the new Maya 2016 so that I would not be so lost when uni starts in a few week's time.

Dreamworks Exhibition Singapore

I am so lucky that this exhibition coincide with the time I went back home for a couple of weeks. Like the Pixar exhibition I visited in Barcelona earlier in February, I got to take a closer look to Dreamworks' highly known animated films- Kung Fu Panda and Madagascar. In Madagascar's exhibit, there were production notes by the animator and use of shapes to create the four main character and it reminded me of my own project where Alan asked me to look at shapes to help create my character. There's also a couple of videos that shows the production's desk and like seen before in Pixar, how the animators present the storyboard to the director and the team. Here's some pictures from my visit :)

After going to the exhibition, it gave me a reassurance that this is what I want to do in the future! :D
