Acting Class (Session 3)

Today's class was all about appeal. There were several items that's been laid out and our task was to go to the right item that the team has picked out for us. The item was not what it seems to be. It was challenging because it can be quite frustrating to have the item at hand and not knowing what it was. The possibility of what the item could be was endless. However, the reaction we received from the audience helped us figure out what it eventual was. In this sense, we came up with tons of ideas to guess the possibility and some actions were certainly entertaining!

My item was a hole puncher. I had to act it out to figure what it was. Mine was eventually supposed to be a person clipping her toenails.

Josh had one of the hardest as he had two items. It was the mannequin and the belt. The mannequin was supposed to be a flute and him playing it to entertain the cobra (belt).

Anthony had the hat for his item. The hat represented a piece of towel and was supposed to used to wipe his bump.

Will had the roll of toilet paper and it was supposed to be a fan.

Tom also had the harder ones. His items were the shawl and the South Park character. He was supposed to be giving birth to it and had the shawl to cover it.

Sukhi had a mug as her item and it was supposed to represent a kitten. Her role was to stroke the kitten.

Rosalyn had a glove as an item. It was supposed to represent a banana where she had to peel it.

Sam had a brush and it was supposed to be a microphone and he's a rock singer.

The Items
For the second half of the lesson, we were to adapt from the previous person pose and made a scene out of it.

Adaptation B: Ishtar's Head Modelling

This is the base head model of my character. There are 2 areas that I have to correct. Firstly, it is the eyes. The character has big eyes and it needs a bit of size adjustments. Secondly, it will be the mouth. Right now, the lips seems to be very thick whereas the character has thin lips.

Also, I am quite uncertain on how the nose should have been modelled. I am currently using a human's nose as reference and this character's nostrils is more towards to edge of the nose.

Adaptation B: Character Design Development 35 (Final Character)

This is my character and I was told  to think about how her human calf would transition into an eagle feet. It would be gold foot jewelry that decorates her feet. It is built on her.

Adaptation B: Environment Concept

Apart from my character, I was asked to think about the environment she could be found in.  Instead of doing line art, I was also advise to do a painting right away so this is what I've came up with. It is the interior of a temple because my character is a Goddess. The shapes are basics and I got my influence from the buildings and shapes of the actual temple itself. This is a view of what the temple looks like from slightly a far. In my previous concept art, it was a close up of the place.

I am quite pleased on how this has turned out.

Adaptation B: Character Design Development 34 (Poses)

As I looked at my character and her different poses*, I tried painting her in an environment she would be in- her own temple.

*Her poses have to show her personality which are mainly kindness and compassion to those who worshipped her.

Adaptation B: 3D Model of Ishtar's Bracelet

This is the the base shape of the bracelet. as for the design, I would be using displacement to get the details.

Adaptation B: Character Design Development 33 (Finalized Costume Design- Side View)

This is the character's costume from the side and since she has a hood on her robe, the rim of it will have the lace designs just like bottom of the robe.

Adaptation B: Character Design Development 32 (Finalized Costume Design)

I went ahead to pick elements of what I liked about my previous designs to come up with this.

Adaptation B: Character Design Development 31 (Robe Designs)

For the robe, I developed my designs from what I previously had. In the original design, it was heavy at the bottom in terms of design because there was nothing on the wrist or the waist. For the new set, I've subtly added gold sparkles and also designs on the sleeve to make it balance. I like where the sleeve ends in number 1, how the robe flows onto Ishtar's body in number 3 and the dress design in number 4. Hence, I will combine those elements to make my character's costume.
