Major Project: Scene 1 (Poses)

From the animation I previously did, I came to realisation what I was doing wrong. I was trying to animate frame by frame which I have made it difficult for myself. So, to help out with my animation, I have set my character to key poses (5 poses for different hats) and eventually she'd be happy with the final hat.

As of now, the character is mostly straight on but I will make have turn at angle slightly to be able to show her exaggerated actions further.

Major Project: Scene 1 (Test Animation)

I was not able to playblast this scene as it the reflection will not show on the mirrors. I did a render to help me visualise it in motion and gives me a better understanding of what I really want to achieve for this scene.

Having said that, I will now exaggerate her postures and facial expressions to push what can be achieved.

Major Project: Environment Model

Here are environment of two of the 20 scenes for my animation modelled. In terms of textures, I will just use base colours.

Major Project: Scene 1(Lighting and Camera Placement)

Since my character is all done, I will be moving into previz. However, I needed to make a decision of whether or not to have outlines to my environment. I basically want to have simple colours for my environment because I want my character to be the star of each scene. I've tested a base colour texture for my things with outlines (to have drawing kind of effect). It looks good as still images but not as what I've imagined it to be in an animation.

I've also tested where I should place my camera and did some lighting tests.

Having done that, I prefer to have the camera be her, looking at the mirror and seeing her own reflection. Lighting still needs to be sorted but I will be working on a previz for this scene first.

Minor Project: Character IKFK Error

Earlier, I thought I have solved the problem of my IK FK switch, unfortunately I have not. The elbow collapses when I animate between the two. From this video, it's not visible but I will need to get that sorted before proceeding to begin animating the character.

Major Project: Girl Character Texture Improvement

Though she is just a side character, I feel that I can push her texture slightly. I've added some freckles to her face, painted eyelashes and added pattern to her plain dress. I quite like the outcome of this.

I've also added texture to her to give some shadings and her lips too. She looks more alive with the changes. Like the main character, I will be added the rim light shader to her textures to lift up her overall looks.

Major Project: Character's Texture Improvement

One of my goals to improve when I go inti Major Project is to improve my textures. Here I have improved the eye texture and plugged in the Front Tint Texture into a diffuse map which produces the kind of purple lips I was aiming for.

Minor Project: IKFK Switch Problem

I didn't realise setting the IKFK switch was that difficult because of the controls I already have but I managed to solve all the problems. However, there's a popping on the right arm (as shown in the video) when I control it with my FK switch. The left arm is working fine. Update: Issue has been resolved.

Major Project: Corrective Blendshapes (PJs)

I've managed to get the widgets working on this other model and made sure it is in the correct groups etc. I've got a couple of questions since the way I set it up is different from the tutorial. Where do I place the elbow locator to? I tried to do a point constrain to the shoulder locator but it isn't following. Also, since there is no tracker, how do I set up the blendshapes? Do I set driven key to the Shoulder Locator?

Major Project: Corrective Blendshape (Sorted)

After facing multiple problems setting up the corrective blendshapes, it is now done with Alan's help. Now I will sort out the other's outfit's blendshape.

Major Project: Corrective Blendshape

After doing the corrective blendshape, somehow there's popping going on and I am not sure what I have done wrong.

Minor Project: Prop (Open and Closing of Umbrella)

I was not certain on how to rig an umbrella so I have used the blendshaping method instead.

Minor Project: Side Character (Facial Rig)

This is my side character's facial rig complete. Just like my main character, I am going to use the Non Weight Normalized Skinning method of facial rigging where rivets and controls will be added.

Minor Project: Main Character Texturing Completed

Here's my main character textured with both outfits. One of it has been posed, ready for turnaround. The other one, where she is in her pyjamas, is currently being worked on in terms of her position for the turnaround.

Minor Project: Character Texturing

This is my character's initial texturing. Improvements are to be made to her eyeshadows (smoother transition is needed) but overall, I feel that it's getting there. The skin has a touch too much red which requires a tweak of desaturation. I am quite happy with the result.
